Dealmic.com: Wii Games Summer 2010 Grand Championships Recap 9/2/2010

On September 2, 2010 Nintendo began to send the top Wii Gamers from around the United States to Redondo Beach, California to compete in the Wii Games Summer 2010 Grand Championships.  My sister and I, Team BeruGold, happened to be one of the winners of a qualifying event and thus were sent to the Grand Championships.
Wii-Games-2010-Tent
Wii-Games-2010-Tent
Upon arriving at LAX my sister and I were greeted by two friendly members of the Wii Games staff.  The staff put us on a shuttle bus that took us to our hotel.  Once checked in at the hotel, all competitors had to go to a special meeting where the rules would be discussed in detail.
It shocked most competitors to find out that the rules of the Wii Games had been changed. In the qualifying rounds of the Wii Games, each team member had to play two of the four games (Wii Sports Resort Bowling, Wii Sports Resort Basketball 3-Point Contest, Wii Fit Plus Hula Hoop, and Mario Kart Wii Mushroom Gorge Time Trial) and both teammates would play the final game simultaneously (New Super Mario Bros. Wii Coin Battle).  In the qualifying rounds each team got one shot at each game.
Wii-Games-Summer-2010-Sign
Wii-Games-Summer-2010-Sign
The new rules stated that each team would get two shots at each game (each teammate playing each game now) and that only the highest score would count. This got a bit more complicated with Wii Sports Resort Bowling.  In bowling, Player 1 would bowl the first five frames of a game and Player 2 would have to bowl the rest in that game.  This would be repeated for the second attempt.
The rules for Wii Sports Resort Basketball 3-Point Contest were also changed.  In the qualifiers, one teammate would play three games.  Now during the first attempt the games had to be played by Player 1, then Player 2, and finally Player 1 again.  The second attempt would be played by Player 2, then Player 1, and finish off with Player 2.
Soon it was learned that after everyone had played under these new rules that only the top four teams in each category would compete in a Final Showdown on September 5th to determine the top places.  During this Final Showdown the rules would, once again, be changed.
The Final Showdown rules stated that each team would play every game twice and the score would count for BOTH games played.  In addition to that, Mario Kart Wii would no longer be a Mushroom Gorge Time Trial.  Competitors would face one another head to head in four player split screen (Two Rounds) on the Coconut Mall track with items set to aggressive.
Reactions to the new rules were mixed to say the least.  Many teams had partners who weren’t practicing certain games because it was unnecessary in the opening rounds that toured the country.  At the very least though it gave players two chances to succeed.
Most players, however, weren’t happy about the new Mario Kart Wii rules for the Final Showdown.  The new Mario Kart Wii rules made the outcome more random and less about skill, a common complaint about Mario Kart Wii’s Vs. mode.
After this briefing players were then given Wii Games Summer 2010 Finalist track jackets, and a Wii Fit Plus tote bag.  I will feature both of these in one of my upcoming Nintendo Collectors Journals.
All competitors then had the option to visit the Wii Games Summer 2010 competition tent before the public.  This tent layout was almost exactly the same as the NYC Main Event that I went to but the big surprise was that there were plenty of unreleased Wii games on hand.  Everyone had the chance to play E3 demos of Wii Party, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Epic Mickey, Donkey Kong Country Returns, GoldenEye, NBA Jam, Just Dance 2, FlingSmash, and PokéPark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure.  Sadly absent from this list is Samurai Warriors 3, a game I now think that NOA has completely given up on.
At 9:00 PM the Wii Games Summer 2010 tent was closed down for the night and competitors were urged to get some rest for the events to come the next day.

M3i-Zero-R4dsi.com: M3i Zero Makes its Debut Online

Rumor spreaded that the lastest flashcard M3i Zero made by GBalpha Team would be appeared on 15th July, today it was eventually put on the shelves at some online shops with a quite acceptable price at $29.99. M3i followed the style in packeage and content the same as its predecessor did. Here is a review from flashcart review, enjoy the surprise M3i bring to us in advance before order it.

Advanced Sakura Operating System & GUI
USB 2.0 MicroSD & SDHC Reader Included
Compatible With All Speeds of MicroSD
High Quality Shell Casing & Hardware
Excellent Homebrew Compatibility
Hardware Updatable Kernel Sys

Custom Media Centre Soft
Supports MicroSD & MicroSDHC to 32GB
Real Time Save & Soft Reset Functions

Built in PDA With Notepad & More
Easy Touch Screen Navigation
Multi Skin Interface Support
Multi-Language Support

So today I was excited since I knew that the M3i Zero would arrive. The M3 team kindly sent me a sample and it even arrived before the release date, so that’s pretty cool (especially since the packaging was marked EXTREMELY URGENT).

Anyways when I opened the packaged I saw the M3i Zero box for the first time. It is quite similar to the M3DS Real, I actually prefer the lighter color on the M3DS Real box, but who cares. Opened it up, it has the same clear case as the M3DS Real, but in it was the M3i Zero. There was also a tray with the USB cable and MicroSD reader.

Now looking at MicroSD reader, some of you believed that this was a rebranded Sandisk Mobilemate reader. It isn’t, it is a knockoff. I looked at it side by side for a split second and you can see the difference. It isn’t the color or the logo that gave it away, but the connectors and the sape. The opening for the MicroSD is slightly different. For the MobileMate, the card doesn’t stick out, but in this reader, the memory card sticks out a little.

I also had an extremely hard time pushing the MicroSD into the reader for the first time. I actually heard a huge snap when I forced it in, but now everything works fine. It’s not quite as fast, but it is a decent reader and it looks kind of cool too.I have a pretty updated review of the M3 Real, so you can head over to the reviews section of this site to see what’s up, but that’s all I can say.

Now asides from the f_core.dat, the M3i Zero runs all the same software as the M3 Real. Once you’ve loaded it all up, this is essentially M3 Sakura and an M3DS Real. It runs TouchPod as well, which is nice.

The build for the M3i Zero is worse than the M3DS Real. It is more alike to the old one. For the most part, the casing is exactly the same, it feels just as flimsy. The clips are at the exact sample place, as is the spring-loaded MicroSD slot. The slot on the M3i Zero is practically the same except this time the MicroSD sits flush instead of being held inside the cart. That means it is easier to access and put in, since you have to push your finger all the way into the notch for the M3DS Real. The problem with the build is a gigantic chip sticking out.

The M3DS Real has a small one on the side and I complained about that, the M3i Zero has one big one in the center that sticks out more that the M3DS Real chip. I guess it isn’t really a problem, but it does get annoying and scrapes the side. The sticker is much higher quality on the M3i Zero, it is thicker, glossier and the colors seem whiter or blacker, etc. I rather like the design too.makes me cringe. The plug actually fits both ways since it is so thin and has no relief.

Keep in mind that the arrow on the USB plug points to the back of the cart. It didn’t take very long to update, maybe 10 seconds or so. I didn’t time it, but it took less than 15 seconds for sure. There is no space for the LED to be exposed, so it actually shines through the plastic of the cart. It is kind of cool, you see it best from the back. The file doesn’t seem to be available publically yet.

I did the first test with an M3 Expansion Pack. Everything works as expected, so GBA games boot up just fine and so does the web browser. M3 Sakura is a joy to use. Obviously since I got it today, I haven’t done extensive testing, so far only 1 GBA a handful of NDS and that’s it. I assume that the results will be identical to the M3DS Real for now.

So I guess you guys can wait patiently for my review. I apologize for the quality of the videos. I didn’t really have the optimum lighting. If not, just read the M3DS Real review, it is almost the exact same flash cart with DSi support and a flashing portion. If you want to buy an M3i Zero, you can buy it at only USD25.40 /pc from http://www.m3i-zero-r4dsi.com/.

M3i-Zero-R4dsi.com:M3 Card – Wonderful Technology

M3 Card – Wonderful Technology

The M3 card has gained a lot of popularity over the years. The M3 card is a slot one memory card which is designed, developed and manufactured by the M3 Company. The coolest feature or one can say that the most sought after feature of the M3 card is the in built sakura firmware. This particular firmware which is installed in the M3 card is created, designed and developed by the Moonlight Company. Before this sakura firmware came in to the market, the M3 Company had its own firmware known as the dubbed touch pad. This firmware was used with the M3 cards earlier.

But the problem with the dubbed touch pad firmware was that when the M3 card was used with it, the users were not with the speed as it was very slow and also at the same time, it did not provide its users with a very classy, wonderful and magnificent graphic user interface. The good thing with the M3 card is that the user can use any firmware and the firmware just needs to be booted up before the cards first use.

The M3 card has maintained its position in the market because of its magnificent and mind-blowing features. Some of the features of the M3 card are that the M3 card is highly compatible with SDHC. Not only that a very special feature is present in the M3 card which helps its users to replay their actions in a slow motion mode while playing a game.

Not only that in M3 cards there is a feature of patching DLDI systems as well. This particular feature is very economical and helps the M3 cards to be user friendly. The M3 cards are also highly supportive of the cheat code systems. It is very easy for the user to install or play with the cheat codes when using the M3 card.

M3i-Zero-R4dsi.com:M3i Zero Review

M3i Zero review

The M3i Zero is one of the best DS/DSi flashcarts on the market. The M3i Zero is basically the same cart as the M3DS Real except with DSi support.  The M3i Zero works on the DS/DS Lite/DSi.  When the M3i Zero was released it was one of the most unique flashcart, because the firmware of it was upgradable so if Nintendo made a update to block the flashcart you could easily update it.  The M3i Zero is one of the “feature” flashcart it has lots of features which I will be explaining later in the review.  The flashcart has 2 firmwares Touchpod and Sakura.  This flashcart is also unique because it could be updated with a USB to support the new 1.4 firmware, so you don’t need another DS lite to update it if you updated your DSi by accident.

The M3i Zero it self has a really nice sticker.  The MicroSD slot is on the left side the cart instead of top.  When you put your M3i Zero into your DS its going to look like a real DS game.  Here is how the back looks like compared to the R4 and the Acekard 2i.  The build quility of the M3i Zero isn’t that good.  It feels really cheap and looks like its going to break apart if you drop it.  On the other side of the M3 is where you put in the USB cable to flash the M3i Zero.  You have to be really careful with the USB cable it could break really easily the end of it is really small and doesn’t have any protection to it.

The M3i Zero has 2 firmwares.  One is Sakura and the other one is Touchpod.  Touchpod is extremely slow its ugly and it takes forever to load up.  Sakura is the best firmware for the M3i Zero.  Sakura is really fast and responsive it is based of Moonshell 2 so it looks exactly like it. Since M3 Sakura is based of Moonshell it has the ability to play MP3s and DPGs straight from the menu.  When you first boot up your M3i Zero it will ask you to pick which firmware to use Touchpod or Sakura. In Sakura when you slide a game you have different options, if you slide it to the left you will go to the settings of the game so you could choose differen’t options for the game like RTS, and cheats, if you slide it to the right you just play the game.  Sakura is way faster, more stable, and looks nice.  Here I made 2 videos of me using both Touchpod, and Sakura so you could compare them.  Both firmwares do not have Global Settings, I will explain what Global Settings is later in the review.

M3i-Zero-R4dsi.com:M3i Zero Hands On

So today I was aflame aback I knew that the M3i Zero would arrive. It’s not absolutely as fast, but it is a appropriate clairvoyant and it looks affectionate of air-conditioned too.
